Chalk-Out!

“Chalk-Out” is a wonderful new campaign idea that’s eco-friendly and a fantastic way of spreading important messages. Here’s the scoop:

  1. Grab some colored sidewalk chalk.
  2. Find a public space to write on, preferably a road or walk path.
  3. Write in big, clear letters some simple facts about a global crisis.

This idea’s not anything special or new, but it’s effective and pretty. Your campaign can be about anything: global warming, political corruption, etc. Just make it true, and make it succinct.

OK, the true part can be waived in the following case, for Earth Day 2010 students at Jacobs University Bremen chalked quotes about nature all over the place!

Here are some results from implementations by students at Jacobs University Bremen, an international university in Germany, who are associated with Amnesty International, UNICEF, and Jacobs’ own student club “Be-A-Link” to create awareness about poverty. May 4th - 9th, 2009 is “Poverty Awareness Week”, during which time facts about the strife of the poor of the world have appeared everywhere on campus.
