The Initiative

In 1996 I [Trevor] started drawing comics about my then-favorite animal: hamsters. The Hammy comics grew in number, as did many other creations which were constantly popping into my mind, comic and dramatic, heroes and villains, short stories and epics. All the works were given the imprint “Comet Comics” to signify my creation, or approval, thereof.

Since those years, Comet Comics has become something more. It now aims to be a true business for the publication, both true print and on the Internet, of comics, short stories, novels, articles, et cetera. The aims are big, and the start is small, but…

After reading the works of Muhammad Yunus - Banker to the Poor (2006) and Creating a World Without Poverty (2008) - I saw the importance of social business. Comet Comics is not just entertainment. Culture is important, as is education.

Goal 1: Create online and physical magazines containing entertaining pieces (i.e. the comics) which are thoughtfully composed to stimulate the mind of the reader. These magazines shall also be educational, if not in the comic itself then in text articles. These resources will be aimed at helping school children not just in reading and cognitive skills (through the stories and writing themselves), but also in science, history, and other academia (through the messages in the stories and/or the articles of the magazine). Publications will target multiple age groups.

Goal 2: To provide a place for writers to control their own works, retain all rights, and create pieces uninhibited, excepting cases where Goal 1 is violated.

Goal 3: To use public interest to draw attention to relevant world issues, and to use profited resources to aid society.

Goal 4: Remain independent- unless absolutely necessary the integrity of artists, writers, and journalists will not be infringed. If Goal 3 can be significantly advanced by violation to some extent of this goal, it will be reluctantly accomated in as minimal a way as possible.
