This is a living document as the BP oil catastrophe needs much more work to cover. Thus, that section will be expanded in the coming days, and the issue updated in accordance. Finally, hopefully on Friday maybe Saturday, the complete report will be released separately. I hope to make it a useful resource for compressing the details of the physical, chemical, and geological sides of drilling and the spill, of the legal details, the public response, and political movement.

The recurring sections are Travel, tips on places to go and things to do, Renewable Energy, and Climate Change. Later issues will have more pictures, trivia sections, maybe some games… I dunno. We’ll see.

Green Friends will commence bi-weekly updates start tomorrow. Now, I was intending to have this done by 6:00 EST Sunday, 13 June, but it seems instead it may be later on account of the massive amount of news going on!

For those who don’t know, Green Friends will be a newsletter compressing environmental news of all types into a few pages, hopefully keeping your informed of the salient facts while referring you to detailed sources for further information. In February this year I tested it out with a first issue; it and all future editions can be found on this page here.

I am not a happy camper. I want BP to suffer extreme penalties for this. All of it. It was their fault and we can’t accept externalities and environmental destruction as a consequence of economics because we can’t afford to. And even if we could: it is wrong. And if the economy can only sustain itself through immorality, then the human race is repugnant.

But since we’re a race of rational, caring, and creative beings, I hope we can puge the repugnance from our societies before my first gray hair. Yeah, that’s right, I spell it g-r-a-y. Deal with it.
